Miguel Holmgren

Senior Investigator, Molecular Neurophysiology Section, Porter Neuroscience Research Center, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, National Institutes of Health.

The Holmgren Lab studies protein dynamics of ion access to- and transport through- the permeation pathway of ion channels and P-type ATPases. We are also interested in understanding how nature regulates the function of these proteins by RNA editing, a co-transcriptional modification process that can change the amino acid sequence of a protein. Our works rely on a combination of molecular biology, chemical modification, electrophysiology, spectroscopy approaches and modeling.
